Night Colors

Canon 5D Lensbaby 3G f4 1/50sec ISO1600 -1EV

When I start to think about improving this image, I would shoot this on a longer shutter speed. This would blur the specular refections even more and create more kind of an abstract feeling. I really like the color combinations and the radial blur patterns here on lensbaby.

Causewaybay Shelter

Canon 5D Lensbaby 3G f4 0.8sec ISO100

I pushed this night scene to the blue-orange color combination in post-processing. Notice the intriging elliptical light sources.

Separately, I also brought my macro/telephoto lens. It has been more than seven years since the last time I shot landscapes on long focal lengths. It feels weird, and I do not like my compositions at all.

Light Splash

I took this on a lensbaby. It forms interesting bokehs in general, such as the blue spots in this picture.

The lensbabies showed me a different photographic world. We normally see things literally in discrete ways, and through the distortions of the lens, we were led into a different reality that affects our ways of perceiving, designing and interpreting images.

I find myself taking a lot more exposures with the lensbabies. Part of the reason is to insure against focusing errors. The lensbaby is a manual focusing lens, and it requires more than turning a focusing ring, but bending and tilting the lens barrel in order to achieve focus. The extreme shallow depth of field makes it impractical to achieve focus through small viewfinders on glass wearers.

Distortions fill the majority of the frame. They remove literal details and leave only colors behind. It therefore asks for a stronger emphasis on color design from the photographer, I find.

I suggest visiting the lensbabies group on flickr, as well as the lensbabies vidcast on Radiant Vista.

Baby, would you love me?

I was convinced. I was hoping this piece of equipment would expand my creativity. I took a couple of test shots and boy I was amazed when I reviewed them on my computer. I highly recommend the video cast and also the following picture. It's just dreamy and gorgeous.

I bought this at a local soho reseller. Lower price as compared to retailers. Friendly. Highly recommended.
