It's difficult to control exposure and develop. I loved the result though.

Sea of Clouds

Canon 5D Mark II ISO200 1/200s f8 50mm

We lodged at 3000m above sea level. The air was fresh and thin - a bit crispy without the sun. Clouds and mists gather in the valleys overnight, and they stay in the mid levels until dawn.

Colors change dramatically as the sun rises. Trees glow into golden yellows from their dark greens. The horizon appears where the mountains and the sky meet, and brightens into shining whites. Clouds gather as the mists evaporate, and the dramatic landscape fades.

Mid-summer Trees

Canon 5D 50mm f8 1/400s ISO100

I tried many times to recreate the mood of a late afternoon. The golden sunlight traversed through the wetland forest, made an artful statement with the needle leaves. The mood was warm, and yet beginning to feel creepy.

This was done using Lightroom. The exposure was slightly reduced and the curve between shadows and midtones were steepened.

The 50mm performs the best at apertures f5.6-f8.
