There is a lot of work when working with raw images. I typically work along the follow lines:

1. adjust exposure, expose for shadows and highlights
   
2. crop, adjust for horizons
   
3. noise reduction
4. local contrast enhancements
5. capture sharpening
6. levels for black and white points
   
7. curves to remove color casts
   
8. curves for local contrast
9. saturation enhancements
10. spot healing and cloning if needed
11. save a copy
12. convert from ProPhoto RGB to sRGB color space
13. convert to 8-bit color
